Au revoir Culcairn

After a busy couple of days for Sara, Culcairn is clean, tidy and empty, so the keys have been handed back in. It was a fun house to live in even if the pool got cold pretty easy, but we enjoyed it.

So onwards and upwards now, no more rent to pay, no more landlords to ask if we want a repair and complete freedom to modify our pad the way we want to. BOSTIN.

Good old Cammy

A hard days work today for Cammy. He diligently washed all of the windows at Culcairn and then mowed the lawn. A long day for him, and it was pleasing he stuck at it, despite getting annoyed at the squeegee.

Melissa did her bit in the morning, sorting out her room, then headed off with mum to a guides show in Cranbourne.

Celebratory Barbie

Well we haven't got everything over to the new house but enough to have a barbie, besides which Aussie G landed today back from the UK so we all owed her a Birthday tea.

Most of the day was spent picking up the last heavy stuff before we had to drop the van off and then seeing that we could find a space for. Emily and Harry then popped round to say hi which was nice, with their Cavapoo puppy.

Around 2ish Pete and Tich arrived with families and the kids set about exploring and having a bunch of fun running around. Melissa was in charge of Keeley which seemed to keep her happy for ages. (Cam wasn't yet back from his sleepover but was back in time for the grub)

Aussie G came round about 3ish for her first look round the new house. There had been a medical emergency on the flight and so she had been re-routed through Perth which was a pain, so she was a bit knackered but enjoyed some good Barbie food and one of Dette's marvels - alas no candles unpacked yet!!

All was a great success and the house has proved that it will be great for outdoor living. The barbie area is great and the decking such a peaceful place to relax. As the evening darkened the Kookaburra's started off, great to hear them but one heck of a noise.

Stuff by the van load

First time I've hired a van, so I have to say that.....I am Sam the man with a van.

Much more fun moving stuff in than moving stuff out. Impressed in new house how much space there is in the living room, but wish we had the barn again. Garage looks a bit full, but with rooms allocated and stuff moving in it's slowly becoming our new home

And we're in

Yah, we got the keys and we're in. Finally we can give up on this renting lark. Now we can put up shelves, paint stuff, change the garden, all sorts. Of course, it means we have to also do gutters, jetwash pavers, stain decking, etc.

But we're chuffed.........

and we're off...

It's time, the packing starts in earnest. Blimey it's an annoyoing job, particularly as we've already done it twice (three times if you count moving out of Eyre Court) in the last couple of years. Thankfully we had some good help from friends and family, all of which made the job a load easier.

This early start was worth it

So the alarm was early, the drive dull and the wait dull, but there is something special about seeing the family walk through the doors aand back into Melbourne. Even better when they are the first family through - Sara must have flashed her eyelids at the security people.

Great to see them and an enjoyable drive back hearing the stories from their last few days i UK after I had flown back. Love is all around.
