911's and football
Had a trip out to a Championship Football Club today to talk to them about cost reduction and the way their business is structured. Quite interesting actually, looking at the range of catering they do for example. Better not name them in case it comes up in a search, but reckon I've told you before anyway....
Worst bit was that I had to drive my bosses 911 there, okay so its only a S2 not an S4, but still......Goes like stink and feels really comfy....I want one.
Kids on half term at the moment. Seem to be enjoying the break this time. In the past you wonder whether it does them good, as they get a bit tetchy without the routine, but this time they are well behaved and enjoying a bit of good time at home. Unfortunately it has coincided with a really busy week for me, but Sara is doing a sterling job of entertaining them. (Blog challenge - comments required on the origins of the phrase - sterling job)
Department of Work and Pensions tomorrow, also got Ministry of Defense, Worcester Bosch boilers and a newspaper recycling plant to worry about at the moment!!!!!

Colchester Lathes
Off to visit the 600 Group on Friday, they are now the makers of Colchester lathes, from the standard ones used by the likes of me during my apprenticeship to the pucker multi axes beasties used in complex production. Should be interesting.
Next week, paper recycling factory on Monday and Leicester City FC on Wednesday. All good fun. Presented to a senior commander in the Romanian Army earlier this week - all about supplier selection and collaborative contracting. Sounds posh, but wasn't very sophisticated to be honest, not even sure he was listening!!
Oh, Cammy and Pops parents evening tomorrow........

Chances Glass on BBC1
Watching BBC1 tonight, heard them mention they were going to do a report on the 'Smethwick factory that shone the lights around the globe', or something like that. Rang Elsie to let her know, but Frank had already been on of course.
It was a really interesting piece and included Angela Hind who I have swapped e-mails with - they had been doing a special project on Chances but had run into financial problems, I guess they are in better shape now.
Anyway, through the joys of technology, I can bring it to you below, with apologies to the Morecroft Massive.

Our trip to Worcester

Having booked the kids into Palymra Lodge, Sara and I whizzed off to Worcester for a couple of nights. We had quite a decent hotel, but the worlds squeakiest floorboards. We booked a suite so we had a lounge to sit in as well which was nice as it meant we didn't feel we needed to rush about.

There must have been a hundred swans on the river as we went down for something to eat. Surprisingly quiet in the evening until the clubbing students arrived around 10ish.
Had a couple of wanders round the cathedral and a trip up the river, to while away the hours - amazing how far the day seems to stretch in front of you when the kids aren't around!!! (Thanks Jo & Nev)

Blog Reset
Don't know what I did, but I went to delete the slideshow ticker this morning, thought all was well, but Dette just e-mailed to say our blog was dead.
So I've reset it which means I've got to redo the links..maybe this time I'll save the mods in a text file somewhere so I can change it again easily if I need to.
Anyway, not a lot new, I've been talking to the Chief Exec of Leicester City FC about cost reduction, probably going to go and see him next week, and there are hot rumours of a substitute needed for a trip to South Africa....
Everyone else seems well, I had a day off the other day and used most of to take Dodo to a special shop that does 'comfy shoes', wide fitting etc, she seemed pleased. Kids are well, and Sara seems to be enjoying the piano
Taraa for now
